Push4 pull Soundtrack together
"The exploding role of music in the soundtrack of our digital lives means a festival like this is crucial" - that is what Slumdog Millionaire Oscar winning director Danny Boyle had to say about the Soundtrack International Film and Music Festival which was staged by event specialists Push4 last week on their Cardiff doorstep for the second successive year - with a playlist of live music, exclusive screenings, Q&As, seminars, and educational workshops, all celebrating the creative relationship between film and music.
Danny starred in the first Soundtrack festival in 2008, and this year's programme (Nov 18-22, www.soundtrackfilmfestival.com) featured 25 separate events with a strong rock & roll flavour, including unique, sell-out concerts by Velvet Underground founder John Cale and fellow Welsh icons Super Furry Animals, and appearances by acclaimed Sex Pistols Director Julien Temple and Mighty Boosh director Paul King.

The client was the Film Agency for Wales, whose Chief Executive, Pauline Burt said: "From its inception in 2008, Pablo and his team at Push4 have worked with consistent dedication and enthusiasm to produce an international film and music event that puts Wales firmly on the global map of film and music. Working as an extension of our own team, they have delivered high profile programmes that are exciting and appealing to both the film industry and the general public alike. We are all very proud of Soundtrack and we look forward to furthering our relationship with Push4 in future years."
Amongst the film screenings was the premiere of Super Furries' vocalist Gruff Rhys' first film Separado!, plus a restored version of the classic The Red Shoes, a Hammer Horror night, and a special preview of Bunny and the Bull, a bizarre new comedy from The Mighty Boosh director Paul King. Soundtrack also hosted the European Audio-Visual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) road-show, attracting over 100 of Europe's film-making elite.
And there is another one-off performance to come under the Soundtrack brand, with the December 3rd show Video Games Live, the Cardiff performance of a global phenomenon that showcases video game music with a full orchestra and stunning visual effects. A musical extravaganza not to be mised!
