As part of their PR work for Cardiff Council on the National Armed Forces Day Cardiff on June 26, Push4 has commissioned a film showing a host of A List British stars ‘Saluting Their Support’ for the national celebration of the country’s Armed Forces – past present and future.
David Walliams, Matt Lucas, Katherine Jenkins, Ruth Jones, Graham Norton, Jimmy Carr, and Ray Winston are just some of the stars featuring in the film on www.armedforcesdaycardiff.co.uk to encourage the nation to show its support to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, including service families, cadets, veterans and recruits.
The film is a humourous celebration as Jimmy Carr and the Little Britain stars struggle to make a decent salute. Other celebrities featured in the film include comedians Jason Manford, Jim Davidson, Frank Carson and John Bishop, and impressionist Rory Bremner. There are also a number of poignant armed forces images, set to Shine On by James Blunt, himself of course, a former British Army officer.
Cardiff is the venue for this year’s Armed Forces Day national event which will attract many thousands of visitors to show their support for current servicemen and women, some of whom will be there on the day, the veterans who have served the country in the past, and the cadets, who celebrate their 150th anniversary this year. The event features a large scale Military Parade through the streets of the Welsh capital led by TRH the prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, a range of military activities, and a free evening concert in Cardiff Bay featuring The Soldiers and Only Men Aloud.
The film was made by the charity British Forces Foundation, the charity that exists to boost the morale of British servicemen and women.
